Mechanical

Most mechanical methods have been outdated by high pressure water jetters, however they still have there uses at times. These are some of the older methods of mechanical drain clearing using cables that we can use, when needed.

Electric driven cable with blades on the end for cutting tree roots etc... Hand operated cable designed for going around toilet pan traps. Hand operated cable for clearing waste pipes from sinks and basins etc...

Not all mechanical methods are out of date, such as robotic hydraulic motors etc, driving cutters.

Water Jetter

Renopipe has high pressure water jetters for domestic drains and a large tandem trailer mounted jetter for clearing larger drains such as sewer mains or large stormwater pipes.

We also have smaller jetter hoses and nozzles for clearing waste pipes from kitchen sinks and hand basins etc.

Below are my trailer mounted large jetter, (46l/min @ 33,600 kpa) and truck mounted jetter (30l/min @ 28000 kpa) Below is the all rounder jetter mostly used, which puts out a massive, maximum of 35l/min@34,500kpa

Jetter in conjuction with drain camera

A skilled and very astute operator uses all their senses when clearing a drain, whether by using a mechanical device, or by using a water jetter. They can effectively clear your drain completely and expediently in most cases. At times however using a drain camera in conjunction with the high pressure water jetter can make the job more efficient and economical. It also gives the operator and customer assurance, that the drain is completely clear and can show whether any drain repair is needed at the same time. This photo is an example of using a drain camera in conjunction with the high pressure water jetter. In this instance it was needed due to negotiating a turn up a junction from the main pipe, and also due to the close proximity of the toilet riser in order to not break the pan.

Foaming Root Control

Kinetic Ram

 

The Kinetic Ram uses a burst of compressed air, which stricks the column of water in a clogged pipe. The resulting shock wave, called Kinetic Energy, hits the stoppage at a speed of approximately 1,400 metres per second quickly clearing the blockage.

The same affect as hitting a cold chisel with a large hammer to break concrete.

The water is the chisel as you cannot compress water and the blockage is the concrete.
